Tactile Indicator Tiles

Tactile Indicator Tiles are recognised throughout the world as the most efficient method of providing ground surface indicators for the orientation of people with visual impairment. They provide both directional and hazard warnings and are used internally and externally in situations such as – Stairways; Escalators and Ramps; Kerbing and Step Ramps; Road Crossings; Vehicle Pick-up areas; Railway Platforms; Passenger Wharves; Overhead hazards and changes of direction in public areas.

   Guardian Tactiles are manufactured from a robust, durable, UV stabilized slip resistant  
   polyurethane that is ideal for Australia’s harsh conditions. The unique ‘peel & bond’ 
   installation system incorporates Guardian’s revolutionary adhesive compound, providing a 
   simple, rapid and cost effective process, with minimal disruption to traffic – the tiles can be
   walked on immediately after installation.

   Luminance Contrast – is preferred to colour contrast alone as it highlights the difference 
   in the light/dark properties of two adjacent surfaces rather than just their colours.

   Installation: The peel & bond nature means a no mess installation and no clean up 
   required.

   Note: External application requires Guardian primed surface.

Activa Rubber Tactile Tiles are made in compliance with AS 1428.4 2002 and with other International Safety Standards, incl. Slip Test AS/NZS 4586-1999 and Fire Test AS 1530.3-1999. Slip Resistance Test Ratings of Class B and Class R10

Note: Activa Rubber Tactile Tiles are not recommended for external applications.

Recommended by Tactile Tile Manufacturer – for INTERNAL USE ONLY.

For heavy traffic and trolleys the 2 pack Epoxy is best.

The polyurethane adhesives are better suited on these surfaces.

For heavy traffic – use single pack polyurethane.

Note: All sub floors must be free of dirt, grease, oils and waxes, and dust that might inhibit adhesion; and need to have less than 5.5% moisture content. Sub-floor type determines adhesive type.

Cork & Rubber Tactile Tiles have excellent anti-slip properties in both wet and dry conditions and are resistant to most common acids, alkalis, oils and greases.
They are suitable for external use in harsh climatic conditions – are highly durable and withstand heavy traffic conditions.

Ceramic Tactile Tiles
CERAMIC TACTILE TILES

The Ceramic Range of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI) is the most economical product currently available in the market. It comes in two colours to meet the standard requirement of Luminance contrast as required by AS/NZS 1428.4.

Lay the Ceramic Tactile just like any normal tile units. Tile thickness is 10mm and it is best to leave 13-15mm rebate in freshly laid concrete to accommodate glue and cement. Also leave 2-3mm gap for grouting around the tiles.

  1. Stick Down Type Indicator with a Pin Positive Stud - developed for adhesion to smooth surfaces such as ceramic tiles, stone, terrazzo etc. The product is produced and designed for use in areas that have heavy traffic loads such as wheel loads from cars and mechanical equipment.
  2. Stick Down Type Indicator- developed for adhesion to smooth surfaces such as ceramic tiles, stone, terrazzo etc. The product is produced and designed for use in areas that do not have heavy traffic loads such as wheel loads from cars and mechanical equipment.
  3. Screw Down Type Indicator – developed for fixing to surfaces such as masonry, carpet, vinyl, rubber and timber etc. The product is produced and designed for use in areas that do not have heavy traffic loads such as wheel loads from cars and mechanical equipment.
